On March 18, 2022, Judge Keith R. Truffer of the Circuit Court for Baltimore County granted final approval to the class action settlement in Starke v. Stanley Black & Decker. The Sultzer Law Group filed the lawsuit on April 13, 2021, alleging that Black & Decker sold products to consumers advertising to be made with titanium when in reality they are made with steel and a titanium coating. The settlement allowed for each class member to receive a cash payment totaling up to $10 with no proof of purchase and $50 with proof of purchase, depending on their total purchases. The total value of the settlement was $1.628 million.
Jason Sultzer, the firm’s founding partner, was, “pleased that Judge Truffer approved the settlement,” and believes, “it is a crucial victory for consumers that properly compensated them for the products they purchased.”
